About the Wyder Cup event The Wyder Cup founded by the Mason's Arms Golf Society in Long Marston (MAGS) will see a team of Long Marston (LM) based players matched against those representing the Rest Of The World (ROW) in an annual event based on the format of the Ryder Cup. Originally a one day event then increased to two, it has now grown into a full three day event with foursomes, fourballs then singles on the last day.
The idea for the competition was conceived by MAGS members Des Jones, Martin Winkle and Dave Winkle, who went on to generously donate the actual Cup that has become such a sought after prize.
The event takes place at a location announced by the hosting Captain who is appointed by the respective team. The team Captains are normally announced at the previous event having assumed the role of vice Captain for the completed event.
The teams shall therefore take it in turn to select the venue and will be responsible for the overall event organisation.
